Education and Outreach
I am currently the Co-Founder and Director for Roots & Shoots at Arizona State University. As a chapter of the global organization Roots & Shoots, our chapter seeks to engage K-12 students through experiential, interactive lesson plans in ecology, conservation, and sustainability. We hope that by outreaching to Arizona youth, we will inspire a new generation of informed and responsible stewards for our planet. We have developed several lessons plans on these topics and seek to roll out our materials to students during distanced learning. We are welcoming community partners who are looking to incorporate ecology, conservation, and sustainability curriculum to their outreach services. We can be reached via email at rootsandshootsasu.gmail.com.
Our model (see below) seeks to build responsible energy consumer stewardship and cultivate awareness of ecological systems and conservation strategies in Arizonan youth.

I also work with Skype a Scientist and Ask A Biologist at Arizona State University to regularly engage with young students interested in science.
Science Communication and Advocacy
As a Biodiversity Ambassador with Defenders of Wildlife, I contact local and federal legislators to advocate for protections for natural spaces and wildlife. As part of this work, I am also currently collaborating with a fellow ASU PhD student on writing Op-Ed pieces for local newspapers on wildlife advocacy issues relevant to Arizonan citizens.
